Family Man

A discussion of my family must start with … Mom and Dad. The purpose of this brief virtual introduction to parents and siblings is to share the unspoken hope of good parents, translated through my life as one of my most sincere goals. I’ll express this in the last sentence of this paragraph. Dad (Wendell) comes from a small town in Iowa; Mom (Barbara) was raised in El Paso, Texas. They met while Dad was in the army, stationed at Ft. Bliss. They started their married life in Phoenix, AZ in 1962. I was born the first of four children in 1963. My parents still love life together in Phoenix, where my father has run his business since 1973. Both sisters live in Phoenix with their families, and my younger brother lives in Dubai. Now, from good parenting to a personal life goal: Live to be what they see in me … to be everything they raised me to be.

My wife Antoinette and I moved to Las Vegas in 1992, with two children. We added three more to the family here in Nevada. Even Whitney, our oldest, knows only Nevada as her home. Try as they might, my children don’t really even recall when their dad wasn’t the mayor.

Whitney attends college at George Wythe University in Cedar City, UT. Number two, our son Grey, turns 18 soon and is preparing to serve a church mission. The middle child (she doesn’t like that title) is Lyndsi. She is 16 and working on her driving skills. Seth, our 13 year old boy is active in Boy Scouts, and our 11 year old girl Cheri is, ounce per ounce, the happiest 11 year old I could imagine and a joy to hang out with!

We all look forward to meeting as many of the Nevada family as possible.
